The writers of Spider-man: No way home They talk about the concept art in which Misterio faced Doctor Strange
During an appearance on IGN FanFest the writers of Spider-man: No Way Home, Chris Mckenna and Erik Sommers were asked about leaked concept art in January showing Quentin Beck battling Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme during the climactic third act showdown at the Statue of Liberty, the idea of which was abandoned as that the scriptwriting process continued to evolve.
“We have worked on some of these [películas] now and they will bring you amazing concept art. You’re like ‘wow, somebody thought of this, and now it’s going to be a fixture.’ So when we didn’t know what the movie was going to be like, we were playing around with a lot of different ideas, you’re dealing with the multiverse and a lot of different ideas are thrown around.
Brilliant artists are taking their own ideas or taking inspiration from the director, producers and creating amazing works of art. I will say that when you open up the multiverse, you get a lot of conversations where anything can happen. When it really started to merge, when the sensors went off and the actors were like ‘yeah, I’m ready for that,’ then it became kind of overwhelming because you’re like, Ok, this is reality now.
You can’t just be swimming in a million characters, you have to choose characters wisely and make sure they don’t overwhelm the story and Peter himself.” Mckenna said.
In the interview they discussed how the process was for the inclusion of the wall-crawlers Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the film, You can watch the full video from IGN below.
