Ubisoft takes everyone in the video game industry community by surprise by revealing almost casually that they will attend the event in person E3 2023.
This event for decades was the maximum showcase for the sector, where the big firms came and often made their biggest announcements of the year.
But over time, things gradually changed to reach an apparent point of no return when the pandemic forced this expo to be adapted and then suspended.
For this 2023 the intention was to return to the good old days and fully adopt the traditional format of E3, but the reality is that the largest companies in the sector announced well in advance that they would not appear.
Neither Sony, nor Microsoft, nor Nintendo will have an official presence within the expo. In fact each company will have their own separate conference at different points of the year to showcase their new releases.
So the general consensus is that no one of the greats would go to E3 2023, but Ubisoft has just surprised by revealing in an unusual way that they will.
Ubisoft confirms its attendance at E3 2023 in the most unusual way possible
the colleagues of VG247 just reported all the details surrounding the most recent Ubisoft investor conference, where, coincidentally, in the middle of the talk, the executives ended up telling the rest of the board that they are going to E3 2023.
Contrary to what anyone might expect, with an official statement and a more structured announcement in between, the confirmation of the company’s presence at the Expo was actually a mere comment that ended up making a lot of noise because up to now it would be the most big with a stand there:
“E3 is a special time for our industry and we are excited to showcase our strong lineup in Los Angeles in June. We are still finalizing the details of our plans and hope to share more information soon.”
It is the declaration that the madmen of gamesindustry.biz they managed to obtain from a Ubisoft spokesperson after the information was disclosed in the talk with investors.
Traditionally smaller companies in the industry have relied on booths on the show floor to showcase their games. Depending largely on the attraction generated by the presence of the largest firms such as Ubisoft.
So everything indicates that they will now be the protagonists of E3 2023.
