We could tell you that it is the series of the year but we would lie to you. Or that the streaming platform will go all out with her like it did with the squid gamebut that wouldn’t be true either. It’s not even true that it’s from Netflix. They are all lies.
The real truth is that with Lies has happened as it happened with toy boy: an Atresmedia series that went unnoticed on TV and on the official platform of Antena 3, but when it arrived on Netflix it hit the spot.
Liesthe new hit on Netflix
Based on the British series Roll, this story of a raped woman could be that of a thousand women. And that is precisely where part of its success lies. A story that could happen, a plot that hooks and a truth that hides as it hid in believe methat of a helpless victim.
The magic of Netflix is that it is capable of bringing to the general public what is sometimes overlooked. And it is that more and more series start in groups like Atresmedia and end up landing on platforms to succeed, as we saw with mothers. Love and life from Mediaset that is now seen on Amazon Prime Video, or as happened at the time with The Money Heistwhich got thanks to Netflix the recognition it deserved.
Lies slipped into the top of the most watched the same weekend of its premiere, and for a series to succeed, word of mouth is needed but also, it needs to be easy to watch, and thanks to how Netflix works and its algorithms, it is more than possible that if you are a fan of suspense it would appear in your head just open the application with a trailer that invites us to see much more.
The rest is work Javier Rey, who is splendid, by Ángela Cremonte and a more than successful Manuela Velasco that they achieve with a hypnotic story full of lies to make us part of this hard story. So involved that we become biased at times, that we believe what we do not see and only hear and that we observe how from the first chapter everything turns against the protagonist.
Lies It continues to succeed because this miniseries is addictive and so easy to watch that before you know it you’ve had half a drink.
