Social networks are full of challenges that people seek to perform and perhaps gain some fame, TikTok has become a starting point for these to be repeated over and over again, however, these are not always to everyone’s liking or they are simply not correct.
One of them is the Milk Crate Challenge, a challenge that consists of stacking plastic milk boxes in a ladder arrangement and trying to climb them, something that dozens of people have tried and recorded to upload to their social networks, but that in most of the cases only end up sharing their ‘comic’ failure.
The videos went viral in different parts of the world, especially in the United States, however, dozens of doctors and security experts have warned about the dangers of carrying out this challenge, so it seems that TikTok has decided to take action on the matter.
TikTok vs Milk Crate Challenge
In an effort to prevent dozens of people from being seriously injured – and his name being among the culprits – TikTok has decided to remove content showing the ‘challenge’ after being one of the main broadcast channels.
The Chinese-based social network disabled the ability to search for the term ‘Milk Crate Challenge ‘ (Milk Box Challenge) in the midst of worries.
“TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our community guidelines to discourage such content. We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior, whether online or offline, “a TikTok spokesperson told NBC News.
Why is this Challenge dangerous? According to Dr. Vonda Wright, an orthopedic surgeon based in Atlanta, Georgia, told NBC News that “This is probably the (madness) that I have seen that has the most potential for bodily injury that will take people out of more than just their daily life, but it could have implications for a lifetime ”.
Wright assures that she, along with other doctors, have shared the videos with warnings, indicating to the users of the social network why they should not participate, because someone who tries can suffer injuries such as “a wrist fracture, a forearm fracture , a torn femur, a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or a concussion with a hemorrhage in the head that could cause problems in the future. “
At the end of the posted videos, people show that according to themselves they have broken a limb or show people who have suffered a head or back injury.
Another dangerous challenge
If you still don’t know about this challenge, maybe you never will, because it seems that at least TikTok has mobilized quickly to prevent its users from suffering serious injuries.
Perhaps, an important part of this action is that a few months ago the ‘Blackout challenge’ put the technology company in check on more than one occasion, as it caused the death of two minors, one of them in the United States and another case more in Italy.
Although the video application is not the culprit or incites these challenges, it should pay special attention to the privacy policies of its service, it cannot be blamed for the decisions made by its users, but to allow minors under age have, with some ease, access to content that should be protected or have a warning of sensitive or sensitive content.
