There are several reasons why children’s teeth have stains. Find out!
All children have a different tooth color. Children’s teeth may have an unnatural coloration, which comes in the form of stains. These can appear due to external causes or due to some events that occurred during the development of the teeth. But, there are three reasons why a child has stains on their teeth:
1. Due to trauma (blows)
2. Due to dental caries
3. Due to enamel defects
Black spots. These are due to a blow to the mouth, which is very likely to cause black spots, due to the rupture of the blood vessels inside the tooth.
White spots. These appear quite frequently. One of these originates from a tooth defect that appears during the mineralization process, called enamel hypoplasia. Other stains arise from the decalcification of the enamel of the tooth itself and some of these may be the result of orthodontic appliances.
Green spots. They are the most common to appear on children’s teeth and appear when the gum tooth finishes sprouting, leaving a greenish layer on top of the tooth. The second cause is due to poor oral hygiene.
According to specialists, some stains are reversible, but the most important thing is to instill good dental habits in your children from an early age. As well as, decrease the consumption of sugar (soft drinks, sugar juices, cookies and sweets) and the application of fluoride by the dentist in some cases.
