There are those who insist on ensuring that cravings during pregnancy are a mere myth. The truth is that they do give … and boy do they give hard! The real question is what causes them, so the question is … why do you get so many cravings during pregnancy?
USUALLY, THE FUTURE BABY IS BLAMED, BUT EVERYTHING INDICATES THAT CRAVINGS OCCUR BECAUSE OF HORMONAL CHANGES TYPICAL OF PREGNANCY.
Some specialists defend the idea that such cravings appear due to a nutritional need of the mother. An example would be: the mother ‘dies’ from eating chocolate, therefore she is deficient in vitamin B.
Have you thought about why you crave so much, for example, bread, ice pops, or spicy food?
This theory sounds convincing, but so far no real relationship has been found between a pregnant woman’s appetite and what her body really needs in terms of nutrients.
In this sense, the University of Oxford undertook the task of investigating a group of future mothers and found that the foods most sought after by pregnant women were sweets, acidic fruits, dairy products and highly spiced food.
The study also revealed that pregnant women consume low-temperature products, such as ice cream and soft drinks, very regularly. These foods were found to help mitigate nausea and vomiting, so common during pregnancy.
Experts say there is anything wrong with that pregnant remedy your cravings, but they must be very observant of those food s not threaten their health and that of her child.
