There are babies who do not sweat or do so little. But, if your baby sweats a lot, take this information into account.
Perspiration, both in adults and children, is a physiological process produced by the sweat glands and which leaves the pores of the skin. The function of sweating is to regulate body temperature especially when we are in a warm environment or when doing some physical activity.
In young children, this temperature regulation mechanism does not work well at a young age, since it is common for their body temperature to change from cold to sweating in a short time. So it is not uncommon to see babies bundled up in hot weather.
If a baby sweats a lot it is not caused for alarm, it is because its mechanism that regulates perspiration is not fully established and it will be compounded as the baby grows, until approximately two years old.
Another reason why sweat in a baby is too much is that he is very clothed or that he begins to crawl or walk, because he may be sweating more from physical activity. Also, hot weather is a determining factor for baby to sweat too much.
Precautions to keep baby hydrated
1. Provide a cool environment in the baby’s house or room, to prevent heatstroke.
2. In case a child is very sweaty, does not have a good face or expresses discomfort, it will be convenient to take his temperature to check if he has a fever.
3. If your baby sweats, check his clothes and change it constantly so that he doesn’t feel uncomfortable.
4. Bathe it in a normal way with warm and pleasant water.
5. Always have water on hand. Just in these hot months, always have a bottle of water for you to offer it to yourself often.
If you notice that the baby’s sweat is excessive, it is necessary to consult the doctor to review it and do some analysis to rule out problems such as hyperhidrosis.
