We introduce you a list of reasons why, according to a recent survey, employees in various countries resign from their respective jobs.
One of the, let’s say, positive effects that the pandemic delivered is the fact that, today, issues such as mental health, personal well-being, among others, have become a priority for a considerable number of people.
Today, and for a few years, there has been talk of “toxicity” (“toxic” jobs, “toxic” relationships, etc.), a term that defines, in general terms, those situations that, in one way or another, generate harm , emotional and physical, in individuals.
In fact, currently, one of the reasons why employees decide to leave their jobs is the bad work environment in which they work, according to a survey carried out between February and March 2019 by love mondays.
However, as is already known, the arrival of the pandemic generated a large number of unemployment throughout the world and now, well into 2022, the situation remains different and with different expectations for the future.
Why do people quit their jobs? A survey solves the mystery
In recent months, in the United States, employees have voluntarily submitted their quit their respective jobs at a 25 percent higher rate since December 2019that is, months before the pandemic.
From this perspective, a study carried out by McKinsey & Company between April of last year and April of this yearreveals that workers in countries such as Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States, after quitting their previous jobs, decided not to return to the same industry in which they were developing.
And it is that, in short, the health emergency has been key so that, today, employees are looking for spaces where, beyond the economic, the work environment is beneficial in every way.
Even the same McKinsey & Company study has listed the main reasons why people make the decision to quit their jobs.
As the graph above shows, “lack of professional development and/or growth” is the main reason workers leave their jobs.
Among other relevant reasons are the fact of living with “uninspiring leaders”, “unsupportive colleagues”, “little or no support for the worker’s mental health”.
Current generations have a new way of being and thinking, and lately they have put into discussion the importance of taking care of mental health in all aspects of life: family, interpersonal relationships, work, in everything.
Carrying out a new work culture is, today, vital both for young people (and not so young) and for companies.
