In recent years, the Colombian Government has launched a social program called “Solidarity Income”, which has benefited a large number of people in vulnerable situations through the delivery of economic transfers for a value of 500,000 pesos, with the aim of alleviating the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. However, by the end of 2022, the Department of Social Prosperity suspended the subsidy, which has generated uncertainty among the population about the continuity of the program in 2023. All the information available in this regard is provided below.
According to the report provided by the Department of Social Prosperity (DPS), some families did not receive the subsidy previously, but they will be allowed to do so in the coming days. It is relevant to mention that people who are already benefiting from social programs such as Solidarity Income, Youth in Action and Colombia Mayor, will be included in the new Citizen Income proposal, which will be launched from April.

Solidarity Income: How can you collect it?
The Department of Social Prosperity grants the economic subsidy through a bank account, and those beneficiaries who already have a savings account in a financial institution will receive payments directly into said account. In addition, the financial institution will send a text message to notify of the corresponding payment.
The Solidarity Income social program can also be delivered by money order, for those who do not have an active bank account. Payments will be delivered by payment operators designated for this purpose. The collection process is free and if any additional charge is presented, it must be reported to the Department of Social Prosperity.
What will happen to the 2023 Solidarity Income?
To date, the National Government of Colombia has not reported on the implementation of a new subsidy from the Ingreso Solidario social program for the year 2023. The current president Gustavo Petro has affirmed that no more economic support will be offered through this program in the new year and has recognized the scarcity of resources to continue with the bonds. However, Petro has promised to look for alternatives to support Colombian families.
When was the last Solidarity Income payment made?
The Department of Social Prosperity reported through its official Twitter account that it has begun to deliver the payments corresponding to households belonging to group A of Sisbén IV, as well as to old households that had value adjustments since the 7th of December. In addition, as of December 15, payments to old households that do not have a bank account began, although the deadline for payment was until January 2023.
