The World Health Organization (WHO) announced this Monday that it maintains the maximum alert level for the Covid-19 pandemic, exactly three years after declaring the disease an international public health emergency.
The director general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, followed the recommendations of the emergency committee on Covid-19, made up of experts, who met last Friday, according to a statement.
What was discussed during the WHO meeting?
During the meeting, the WHO Director informed the advisors of the Emergency Committee that this week marks the third anniversary of the designation of COVID-19 as a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) in January 2020.

Significant progress has also been made in: the development of effective medical countermeasures; building global capacity for genomic sequencing and genomic epidemiology; and in understanding how to manage the infodemic in the new information ecosystem, including social media platforms.
How is the pandemic going in Mexico?
