With only 3 years of life, Google leaves users stranded with a Pixel 3.
Regarding software update policy, Apple is unrivaled. The apple company is characterized by offering its most modern operating systems to devices with many years in the market, and there is no company that can overshadow it. Not even Google with its Pixel comes close, not a bit.
Google has made it official that The Pixel 3, released in October 2018, no longer receive official support in the form of software updates three years after its launch. Something that contrasts with Apple, which not only continues to update devices released in 2015 such as the iPhone 6s to the latest iOS update, it has also recently released security updates for iPhone released in 2013.
The Serie Google Pixel 3 will no longer receive any more software updates, operating system or security patches, from now on after updating to Android 12 and receiving the October security patch, the last one that Google will offer.
The comparisons are hateful
It is true that Google does not break any promise, when the Pixel 3 hit the market it promised that they would have 3 years of software updates, and it has been. Nevertheless These are devices with power to spare to be able to update for many more years.
For comparison, the Pixel 3 and 3 XL have a processor that doubles the capabilities of the A9 of the iPhone 6s that Apple keeps updating.
It is quite surprising how Android brands leave their users abandoned in terms of updates, and it is something especially striking in the case of Google.
It is true that a 3 year old smartphone may look old, but I am pretty sure that the Pixel 3 still work perfectly, and that there are thousands of users who would continue to use them for a long time if they updated them. Scheduled obsolescence is endemic to Android, and even Google is not a good example.
