Joel and Ellie’s journey in The Last of Us Part I will take you to the most dangerous places, so you need good weapons to be able to defend yourself against all threats. You have to find them because there are no vendors in the locations you pass by.

9mm pistol
The 9mm pistol is the first weapon you get in The Last of Us Part I. You get it automatically at the beginning of the game, when Joel and Tess are preparing to leave the Quarantine Zone.

The Hunting Rifle is one of the favorite weapons of The Last of Us fans for its firepower and the possibility of converting it into a full-fledged sniper rifle. You get it during the confrontation in the Municipality of the Outskirtsbefore entering the subway.

Bow
The bow is the weapon of choice for stealthy players. you get it in the main street of El Pueblo de Bill (right upon arrival) when you have to dodge traps. Enter the alleys on the left. Find the truck you see in the picture and go up the ladder. He is leaning on an armchair.

Shotgun
If there is a weapon indicated for a zombie apocalypse, it is the shotgun. Its incredible power makes it ideal for any confrontation in The Last of Us Part I. The good news is that you cannot skip it, since Bill gives it to you once you reach his Church shelter in Bill’s Town.

The Devil (revolver)
This revolver is called El Diablo and it has a telescopic sight that allows you to shoot accurately from a distance. It does a ton of damage and its ammo should be treated as a very valuable resource. You find it at the beginning of the path of the tommy damnext to the police car you see in the image.
If you miss it, you can get it later, just before Tommy’s Camp, in a booth that controls an access fence. It has four improvement parts:

The flamethrower is the shotgun’s big brother when it comes to mopping up hordes of zombies. He uses huge blasts of fire to burn down everything in sight. You get it in a garage upon arrival at University. Turn right as soon as you go up the hill you see in the image.
It has three parts of improvements:

- Level 2: Tools 4, Parts x40.
Scope:
- Level 1: Tools 4, Parts x40.
Power:
- Level 1: Tools 5, Parts x60.
Other weapons available
- Assault rifle: It is obtained in the Hospital, at the end of the game. You can keep it and use it if you choose to play New Game+. It has no upgrades.
- Molotov cocktail: It is obtained after fleeing from the City Hall to the Outskirts of Boston. It’s next to a body just down the subway stairs. It can be improved with the Training Manuals.
- Smoke bomb: It is obtained after the ambush at the entrance of Pittsburgh, in the garage where all the belongings of the ambushed are located. It is improved with Training Manuals.
- Nail Bomb: Bill gives it to you in the shelter of the Church (where the shotgun). It is improved with Training Manuals.
- daggers: You learn them as you progress through the story and their use can be improved with Training Manuals.
- Melee weapons are found anywhere and are usually dropped by defeated enemies.
If you want to get the trophy Ready for Combat, you have to upgrade any of the weapons on this list. For this you need the Tools and Artboards. It is enough to improve one, so try to invest your resources in those that you can improve the fastest: the revolver and the flamethrower. If you organize yourself well, you can do it in the first game.
