The fact is that when the opportunity came to try Evil West and I stopped for a few seconds to see what game it was, thinking in turn of a “But I haven’t already analyzed this?“, I was delighted with a trailer that my head had already completely erased.
The situation was surreal, I assure you. After all, I spend all day in video game news, so it’s quite rare that I miss something, especially something as flashy as this Evil West. Under the already well-known double AA song dressed as a show, another more mythological Wild West game comes to us from the creators of Shadow Warrior.
What a savage game
With a bloody style and a wild gameplay that soon reminds us of the risk and reward mechanics of Doom Eternal, on paper it is the typical idea that is hard to disgust. In work, on the other hand, it is still a little adventure with small mobility puzzles -move that box here to get there-, a minimum of exploration and closed areas in which to dispatch hordes of enemies.
Here comes the good. Carrying out colorful executions that will nourish you with life, those of you who have already gone through the last games of ID Software you know what this is about. In essence, a difficult game capable of putting you on the ropes during the first minutes, but a festival of choreographed savagery in which you suffer little and have a fabulous time when you have already gained control and the tempo of your skills.
As many of you must already assume, here the differences in terms of finesse and design are on another level compared to doombut the team flying wild hog It has already shown on many occasions that they know what they are doing, and here, although with the usual harshness of its category, it is quite evident.
Evil West, a name that (now yes) I will not forget
His list of upgrades, from the various weapons you can access to various skill trees that promise to take your bloody raids to a new level, is by far what has caught my attention the most.
I recognize that the test proven, with just one level, a handful of battles and a couple of final bosses, it has not been one of those experiences capable of changing anyone’s life, but I’m damned if it hasn’t been a major surprise in which I’ve had it fabled past learning to control the many skills that we have available, destined to make combat something as colorful as it is fun.
To that burning nail of his savage revolver-in-hand fights, far above anything else that can be added at the level of exploration, level design or history, is the one I cling to, against all odds, having become Evil West in one of the games that I most want to enjoy calmly during this last stretch of the year.
I clearly do not know if he will be able to hold his own in the final game or if the adventure will be very uphill for me when I have already seen and burned everything he has to offer, but the truth is that I really want to see it first hand.
