He is Santa’s best friend and one of the children’s favorite Christmas characters knows his story.
Many of us have heard about Rodolfo, the red-nosed reindeer who guides Santa’s sleigh around the world, helping him distribute toys to children.
This Christmas character is a children’s favorite, but very few know his story. Here we tell you:
A Christmas poem
The first reference to Santa’s sleigh pulled by reindeer is in Clement Clark Moore ‘s 1823 poem , called? A visit from St. Nicholas ?; However, Rodolfo was nowhere to be seen.
It wasn’t until 1939 that the copywriter named Robert L. May wrote the story of a reindeer named Rudolph, whose nose was red, unlike the other reindeer pulling the sled.
Rudolph’s story was a great success, being distributed along with a coloring book that Montgomery Ward department stores gave away to their customers at Christmas.
Subsequently, Johnny Marks , a member of Robert L. May, composed a song in 1948 that talked about Rudolph and his history with Santa Claus. In the voice of the popular singer Gene Autry , the musicalized story of Rodolfo the reindeer was a great success.
This is how Rodolfo arrived as a Christmas form to our days, brightening these holidays with his happy song.
