With the resounding success of this opening, IKEA did not take long to expand its presence, opening its second branch in Puebla in the Vía San Ángel Shopping Center.
IKEA Mexico: Expansion continues
IKEA’s expansion in Mexico gains new momentum with the announcement of the opening of two new stores in Guadalajara and Monterrey. This decision is based on the excellent reception of the brand by the Mexican public, which has shown growing interest in its innovative and accessible products.
Ricardo Pinheiro, Sales Director of IKEA in Mexico, revealed the expansion plans during a press conference, highlighting the company’s ambitious objective of strengthening its presence in the national territory.
The Guadalajara store will not only be one of the largest IKEA stores in Mexico, but will also mark a milestone in the company’s relationship with the local furniture industry. With an investment of around 100 million dollars and an area of 23,500 square meters, the new branch in Guadalajara will exceed the size of the Oceania store, positioning itself as the company’s largest in Mexico to date. Besides, IKEA plans to collaborate with furniture manufacturers in Jaliscothe largest furniture producer in the country, in an effort to increase local production of its products.
Digitization and national reach
In addition to physical stores, IKEA has placed a strong emphasis on its digital presence, expanding its online store to various cities such as Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Saltillo.
The goal is to further expand the reach of its digital platform throughout the country, offering its products to a broader audience.
IKEA’s expansion strategy is not only limited to Mexico, but also covers other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, including upcoming openings in Chile, Peru and Colombia. This growth plan demonstrates the Swedish brand’s commitment to the region and its confidence in the potential of the Latin American market.
