No one can deny the valuable effort that WhatsApp has made to become a fairly functional messaging service. The Meta application has been introducing options so that each user has different varieties to enjoy the app on both Android phones and iOS devices.
The video messages, editing text within your chats and being able to share high-quality images, are just some of the new functions that can be enjoyed in WhatsApp. However, the green dot thing is still confusing to some people.
Therefore, we are going to explain what the green dot means and how to activate or deactivate it, as the case may be.
The green dot on WhatsApp means that you have marked a chat as unread. This can happen if you’ve opened a chat and haven’t read all the messages, or if you’ve intentionally marked a chat as unread so you can reply to it later.
The green dot appears next to the chat name in the chat list. If you open a chat with a green dot, the dot will disappear.
To mark a chat as unread, follow these steps:
- Open the chat you want to mark as unread.
- Tap the chat name at the top of the screen.
- Tap the “Mark as unread” button.
To remove the green dot from a chat, follow these steps:
- Open the chat that has the green dot.
- Tap the chat name at the top of the screen.
- Tap the “Mark as Read” button.
