Video calls are already working on WhatsApp Web and Desktop
One of the problems that both WhatsApp Web and Desktop have is that they are the versions that take the longest to receive the changes launched by WhatsApp for mobile devices. So much so, that there are basic features that are not yet available on computers. However, little by little, new features are being received that facilitate the use of the two commented applications.
One of the latest features that both WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop have received are video calls. WABetaInfo has revealed that the beta versions of both applications already have video calls available, which can be used from any computer that has the programs installed.
Of course, and as has been confirmed, in order to make video calls it is essential that the mobile phone that has the WhatsApp number activated is also connected to the Internet.
Where can we find these video calls?
WhatsApp Web and Desktop video calls are available at the top of the conversations screen, where two icons with the “beta” logo appear, above the video calls and the normal calls themselves. When we make or receive a video call, a new window will open in which we can accept or reject it.
In the event that we accept the video call, this new window will remain active, giving us the possibility of handling it in things such as activating or deactivating the camera or microphone, or hanging up the call itself.
It should be noted that we are talking about a beta function, which means that it is reaching users slowly. Every day it is available on more devices, which means that as it becomes available it can be used. Of course, WhatsApp is giving more priority to WhatsApp Desktop than the Web version of the application. In fact, it is possible to install the first version in order to receive the feature earlier.
WhatsApp video calls are getting better
There is no doubt that, as the days go by, WhatsApp video calls are getting better and better. In fact, during the confinement itself, there have been extensions regarding the use of the application in its different versions, which is quite positive.
The arrival of video calls to WhatsApp Web and Desktop make the application become a worthy competitor for other alternatives that are already on the market, such as Skype, Zoom, or the most recent Telegram, which also has this feature. Of course, users will be responsible for deciding which application to use. Each has its own advantages.
In these times of pandemic caused by COVID, there is no doubt that the use of internet calls and video calls have become essential tools in order to maintain contact with our friends and family. Fortunately, these types of tools are also being refined, made easier and better to use.
