The prayers of many users have finally been heard and WhatsApp finally it is updated to allow the execution of the same account on more than one smartphone at the same time.
Although this is something that has existed for years on other more robust but less popular platforms, such as Telegram. Meta’s instant messaging app lacked this basic functionality.
With the launch of the business version and the obvious complexities of the dynamics of use of the app over the years, there was an increasing pressure and urgency to be able to use the service with the same account without depending on the direct link between the device and the user’s phone number.
Unfortunately, Meta has always distinguished itself by taking its time to implement new functions that may have been operating in other competing services for years, and this was no exception.
The good news is that this improvement has finally been implemented, although configuring and activating it is not as obvious as anyone might expect.
Here we explain step by step how to enjoy this new function without so many entanglements.
How to use your WhatsApp account on two cell phones at the same time
The first thing we should know is that the function that we will explain here as of December 26, 2022, when this guide was written, is only available in the beta versions of WhatsApp.
So it is absolutely essential to install the beta version on at least one of the two smartphones to Android 2.22.21.6 or any higher.
If the device where our WhatsApp account natively resides runs on iOS, it is possible to carry out the configuration process. But in itself it is a function that is being tested 100% on Android at the moment.
The steps are very simple. Once the beta is installed on the Android device that will synchronize the second simultaneous session, we start WhatsApp.
At the point where it asks us to configure the account with the phone number of the device, we leave everything blank and tap on the three points of the options menu and choose the option “link a device”.
A QR code will then be loaded, like when we synchronize a session on WhatsApp Web. So now all that remains is to open our smartphone where we already have the application session active.
We go to the device pairing menu, activate the QR code reader, read the code of the new phone and that’s it.
With that, both WhatsApp accounts will begin to run simultaneously on both phones.
Although, it should be noted, this works only with the beta and is not totally unstable at the moment. Although it will be a matter of time before the final and functional update is released in its entirety.
