Since the Time Zone Law was approved on October 26, 2022 in Mexicowhat is known as “summer schedule” at the national level. However, this was accompanied by a new regime, where certain states have a “seasonal schedule”. Here we tell you what it consists of, where it applies and how long it lasts.
Since 1996, the Aztec country was used to changing its hours with the passing of the seasons. This was done with the objective of saving energy and taking advantage of sunlight. The situation has changed since the end of 2022, when it was argued, in the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, that the expected benefits were not seen.
However, there are some regions where the time must be changed, although it is now called seasonal time. When was the time change made? The new spindle started on March 12which consisted of advancing the clock one hour.
THE STATES THAT WILL HAVE TO CHANGE THE TIMETABLE THIS 2023
The states and municipalities that will have a summer time change, unlike the rest of Mexico, are those that are located in the northern region that border the United States. According to National Metrology Center (CENAM) and the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), this is the complete list:

- Coahuila
- Cove
- Warrior
- juarez
- matamoros
- mexicali
- Nuevo Laredo
- New Lion
- Tijuana
- Tamaulipas
- reynosa
The reason for the change in these states is not only energy savings, but also for strategic issue of trade with the neighboring country.
It is worth mentioning that Quintana Roo will not have a summer scheduleso it maintains the standard schedule, due to the system imposed in 2015, while sonorous will have the same hours as Arizona.
DURATION OF THE EASTERN SEASONAL TIME CHANGE 2023
The time change of this 2023 will have a total duration of 8 months. Therefore, if we consider that it began on March 12, It will end on Sunday, November 5.. It is important to take this date into account to adjust the clocks at home and electronic items.
“The rules that govern the seasonal time on the northern border of the national territory are established by the H. Congress of the Union in the Federal Law of Time Zones, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on October 28, 2022, and amended on following November 29, which provides that a seasonal schedule will be applied only on the northern border of the country starting on the second Sunday of March at two hours and ending on the first Sunday of November at two hours. The rest of the Mexican Republic will remain without schedule changes”, is written on the official page of CENAM.
