The phenomenon of auteur cinema and the productions of renowned directors and actors as exclusive premieres on streaming platforms is not something new. In 2022, films like “All Quiet Front” and “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio”, set a trend by launching exclusively on Netflix. This year, this platform continues to bet on innovative projects that promise to leave their mark on the next awards.
Despite the resistance of some filmmakers to produce films for streaming and leave aside the magic of movie theaters, many titles that have competed, and even won awards, have been original productions.
Meanwhile, others like “The Power of the Dog”, “Blonde” and “Bardo”, had a short stint at the box office before going online.
Netflix already had original movies in the first months of 2023 like “Tyrone’s Clone”, but there are still many more to come. Here is a list of our selection.
