On December 12, the Twitter user @WatcherGuru had anticipated that Twitter had officially launched the new golden check, which would be used exclusively by company accounts.
This information has been confirmed by the appearance of several company accounts with this badge on Twitter. The implementation of the badge occurs together with the relaunch of the new Twitter Blue, of which Twitter Blue for Business is a part, whose objective is to distinguish users with a color check according to their category.
The purpose of this golden check is to replace the “Official” label that was previously used in company and media accounts. By clicking on the golden check, the legend is displayed: “This account is verified because it is an official Twitter account.”
In addition to the golden check, other colors for the checks had been announced, which implied the implementation of subscriptions. At the time, Twitter had announced a relaunch of Twitter Blue starting at $8/month for web users and $11/month for iOS users.
In addition, Elon Musk presented Twitter Blue for Business as a new service for companies, although it is now in the testing phase. What has not yet been fully confirmed is whether this new implementation will have a subscription price for companies and if it will be higher.
Changes have been announced on Twitter for a long time, however, after a short time, they are abandoned or changed to others, which leaves in doubt what are the next steps and what’s new for the social network.
For now, Esther Crawford mentioned that, at this stage of testing, the new gold badge will be visible on the accounts of “companies that previously had relationships with Twitter.”
