Kaiflex is sold in self-adhesive rolls, is made from synthetic rubber and offers the best possible properties as a thermal insulator. It is not cheap, but it is the best option for camper vans due to its excellent technical properties and the little space it occupies.
The Kaiflex is he better insulator that exists for ‘habitable vehicles’ like motorhomes, caravans and campers. Why? Because this thermal insulator, made from synthetic rubber, has a closed cell structure that prevents condensation, is waterproof, self-extinguishing and with extraordinary resistance to temperature –both high and low.
In addition to its properties as a thermal insulator, far superior to those of any other option on the market, it has other advantages such as its ease of application. It is distributed in rolls, it can be cut with a tool as simple as a cutter, and it is also self-adhesive and flexible. Therefore, even for difficult areas of a van, it is the easiest material to place.
Kaiflex: thermal insulation properties and advantages
As we progressed, the Kaiflex it is the easiest thermal insulator to apply, because it is distributed in self-adhesive rolls. Just have to cut it with a cutter, depending on the parts we need for each hole, and it is glued to the sheet metal of the camper van, motorhome or caravan. It does not produce any type of dust or shed fibers, as it does with other thermal insulators.
Being self-adhesive and flexible, it adapts to the structure of the van better than other thermal insulators. Its closed cell structure makes it raincoat, and that prevents any kind of oxide on the sheet metal of the van. But also, it is self-extinguishing. It neither drips nor spreads flames, so it is also safer in the event of a fire than any other thermal insulator.
And although it is not designed for it, also acts as an acoustic insulator because it is glued to the sheet and not only dampens vibrations, but also partially absorbs sound. But the most important thing is that it offers a high temperature resistance, both in heat and cold. And it does not take too much space inside because it is sold in thicknesses of up to 20 mm, although it is also available in lower thicknesses, for example, for the floor of the van.
The only downside to the Kaiflex is that it is a more expensive thermal insulator than traditional options such as stone wool, reflective insulation or polystyrene and polyurethane. Despite this, taking into account that a van has quite small surfaces, the extra cost is worth it because, in addition, it will help us to save on other expenses.
