Proof of HUMANity is a plug-n-play solution for bot prevention at scale, aimed at keeping DApps, exchanges, and the blockchains they are built on safe. This was revealed from an account of twitter in spanish of Human Protocol, where they also shared an explanatory video.

According to the official Human blog, a decentralized world should invent new ways to ensure security. The blockchains themselves take care of it; and while they are very good at determining the validity of transactions within the network, they themselves have no way of knowing who is behind them.
“One of the resulting problems is the influence of malicious bots. To create a truly secure, functional and effective Web 3.0, we have to prevent bots from influencing networks”, they stated from Human.
Proof of HUMANity is thus an on-chain bot blocker, taking advantage of CAPTCHA-style challenges.
“Decentralized networks only work when trust is removed; Proof of HUMANity contributes to this trustless ecosystem.”
Use cases
As highlighted by Human Protocol, the use cases can include wallets, DApps, governance, DEX and NFTs.
Wallets
The first application of Proof of HUMANITY was the Metamask wallet.
“Metamask is the first of many potential integrations. Every hot wallet could benefit from using Proof of HUMANity to provide a point of control for the ecosystem, stopping bots at their source. It doesn’t matter if it’s layer 1 blockchains looking to secure their native wallets or ones like Metamask: Proof of HUMANITY offers protection for everyone.”
DApps
Human Protocol also quoted Vitalik Buterin as saying: “Some form of proof of humanity (secure, decentralized and robust) is going to be a very valuable primitive for applications in the years to come.”
“The humanity test is built for the future. It is essential that DApp developers know that a human is interacting with their applications; it is essential for the entire validity of the blockchain ecosystem that humanity is established. It is, as Vitalik says, a ´primitive´, something that is going to be a basic requirement. Without it, both trust in the system and its effectiveness (which are the same thing) will crumble”, they mentioned in this regard.
governance
On the other hand, from Human Protocol they also referred to the votes of the HUMANS. And they remarked: “Decentralization must ensure that bots do not manipulate voting procedures. Ensuring that all voters are human should be a fundamental requirement for all decentralized governance protocols.”
Looking ahead, Proof of HUMANity could help shape the governance mechanisms of the future.
decentralized exchanges
According to the Human Protocol blog, markets are based on faith. Bots break it down, for example by front-running or pumping the prices of a token. These problems do not help the future of a sustainable and decentralized ecosystem.
NFT’s
The rise of digital ownership raises two important use cases for humanity tests. First, the creation: “Proof of HUMANity could guarantee, if necessary, that the creator of a work of art is human, rather than an AI (although this could also be attractive in the right context). However, the most important thing is that it could secure the bidding process”, they clarified.
“As with DEXs, the market needs to have faith in the price of a certain asset. What is the price, if not the consequence of the bid? Chain auctions are becoming more popular with NFTs; How does a shopper know they are not competing with a bot that may simply lead them to bid higher and higher on a product? This scenario distorts the entire concept of bidding, price and transparency on which blockchain wants to be founded”, they added.
In this sense, they emphasized that Proof of HUMANity could be an important complement to the blockchain; a way to add a layer of protection for blockchains to deliver on their promise of transparency and fairness.
“The HUMAN protocol has introduced on-chain bot blocking to provide a decentralized solution to decentralized networks. With application in a range of use cases, Proof of HUMANity can be integrated by anyone looking to build native blockchain solutions of the future; a future, to which we will only reach if true trust and faith in the networks are ensured”, they concluded.
