Sudamine affects infants under one year of age. We tell you what it is and how to prevent it.
One of the main causes of Sudamine is heat and excessive sweating. Sudamina or miliaria is a rash that appears on the baby’s skin as a result of obstruction of the ducts of the sweat glands.
It occurs because these glands are not yet mature and as a result, small red or whitish pimples appear. It affects the areas of the baby’s skin that are most exposed to sweat such as the forehead, face, neck and back.
Keep in mind that it is more common in hot weather; however, if the baby sweats a lot, the weather does not matter for the sperm to appear. Check these recommendations to prevent it:
1. Avoid sheltering the baby too much. If you notice that you are sweating, it is better to release it from clothes.
2. Do not wear very fair clothes and choose natural fabrics that allow perspiration such as cotton, which is very absorbent and removes moisture from the baby’s skin.
3. Take care of baby’s hygiene. Although it is recommended to bathe him two or three times a week, in hot weather you can increase the frequency if you notice that he sweats a lot and the Sudamine is intense.
4. Don’t expose your baby to excess heat; Look for cool places, use a fan or turn on the air conditioning, and of course, avoid going outside in the hottest hours.
Sudamine treatment
There is no specific treatment, as it is a benign condition that goes away easily. The best practice is to avoid clogging the ducts of the glands further with talcum powder and very thick creams, but otherwise you can maintain the usual care of the baby’s skin.
If you notice that it is very uncomfortable or the rash is too much, never apply anything without consulting your pediatrician.
