Profeco indicated that some brands have adulterated products and also imply damage to health. We tell you the results of the study.
What were Profeco’s findings?
In Profeco’s research, the levels of humidity, acidity and alkalinity were studied. Likewise, the caffeine content and the absence of starch of the following brands:
- Combat Coffee
- Garat Gourmet Coffee
- great value
- Great Value Gourmet
- Jacobs Gourmet Mild Blend
- Ké! Price
- Nescafe Classic
- The Portals of Traditional Córdoba
- 24 karat gold
- Legal Coffee (mixed soluble)
- Nescafe Dolca
- Legal Decaffeinated Coffee
- adulterated brands
In total, Profeco studied 29 soluble coffee products, of which 8 of these corresponded to decaffeinated, according to the results published in the Consumer Magazine. Among their results were 5 brands with the most caffeine:
- Ke! Price100% pure soluble coffee, since it contains 4.3 grams of caffeine for each 100 grams of unprepared product.
- 24 karat goldwith 100% soluble coffee microspheres, because it has 4.2 grams For each 100 grams of product.
- Jacobs Gourmet Mild Blend100% pure soluble coffee, which for each 100 grams have 3.5 grams of caffeine.
- great value100% pure soluble coffee, of each 100 grams have 4 grams of caffeine.
- black coffeesoluble coffee, since it contains 3.5 grams For each 100 grams of product.
In addition, in the study they discovered that soluble decaffeinated products did have caffeine, but its presence was less than in other coffees, so it was that Legal decaffeinated mixed with sugar was the one that contained 0.2 grams of caffeine per 100 grams of product unprepared.
Profeco suggests that in case of suffering from some type of digestive disease, the consumption of this product should be moderated and reminded that in general coffee does not provide energy to do daily activities, since its only effect is to hide the symptoms of tiredness, appearing to wake up the body.
For its part, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) indicates that sensitivity to caffeine depends on each person, since the approximate daily consumption in each adult is 400 milligrams, so that it does not generate a counterproductive effect.
