As is known, the change in the regulations of Liga 1 Betsson forces clubs to broadcast through the only operator authorized by the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), which in this case is 1190 Sports. The teams must allow the entry of the Liga 1 MAX cameras, because if they do not do so, they are exposed to sanctions that range from the subtraction of points to the loss of the category. For this reason and having their hands tied, Alianza Lima relented but not before expressing their annoyance in a letter to the FPF, where they reaffirmed that they have no contractual relationship with said operator.
- League 1 MAX or GOLPERU?: What happens if both go to the stadium to broadcast the Alianza-Cristal
Although Alianza Lima is obliged to allow the entry of Liga 1 MAX cameras until further notice, judicially they have no impediment to carry out their contract with the Consortium. In fact, after the revocation of the precautionary measure that favored the FPF, the blue and white club has the green light to proceed in this way; However, there it collides with the sports field and that fuels the conflict much more. How to untangle that problem?
For the duel between Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal, GOLPERU did not even appear outside Matute to broadcast the game even though, judicially, it had the power to do so. What’s more, the Consortium had sent a notarized letter to the club during the week requesting to give the facilities for the transmission of that match; but it could not be. If Alianza allowed the GOLPERU cameras to enter, the party ran the risk of being rescheduled. And if it happened again, he would receive a penalty that could lead to relegation.
Under this scenario, Alianza Lima is “with the noose around its neck” and could not carry out its contract with the Consortium. However, this operator is also entitled to demand that the club comply with that contract or, otherwise, impose the corresponding economic fines that are necessary according to the legal document. What is a priority in Matute is reaching an agreement with the Consortium to avoid a worse scenario, such as paying penalties and future lawsuits. But the FPF also plays an important role there, because they are the ones who finally give the authorization for the transmission and GOLPERU is not part of that list.
For the Federation, the only existing operator is 1190 Sports, who has the television rights of the clubs. And, in that sense, you cannot afford to share those rights because it would mean defeat in this legal dispute. It is difficult for Liga 1 MAX and GOLPERU to broadcast the matches of Alianza Lima at the same time, but not impossible if the conditions are met; that is, if the parties negotiate and reach an agreement. For now, everything looks complicated and the solution does not appear on the horizon.
