Many dads believe that depending on how the umbilical cord is cut at delivery, the child will have the navel in or out. But the reality is different. Know it!
WHAT DOES THE SHAPE OF THE NAVEL DEPEND ON?
Contrary to popular belief, the appearance of the navel has little to do with how the newborn’s umbilical cord has been cut.
After delivery, doctors separate it from the placenta and clamp it. Thereafter it dries and falls off in a week or two. Meanwhile, the abdominal muscles below join together and the skin of the tummy closes and folds inward, forming the navel. Whether it is more or less deep or round is a matter of nature.
OUT
In some cases, a small crease at the base of the cord can prevent the skin of the abdomen from retracting completely for no apparent reason and the belly button sticking out. The protruding navel (called a button navel) is quite common. Although this type of navel is more likely to form an umbilical hernia in the first months of life, there is no need to worry since these hernias are benign, they usually correct on their own without the need for surgery.
INTO
Acquire that shape according to the healing of each person.
The reason the navel is in or out is due to scarring of the umbilical cord.
