Marvel boss Kevin Feige has reacted for the first time to the choice of James Gunn as co-head of DC Studios. The director of the trilogy Guardians of the Galaxy took on the task of rebuilding Warner’s superhero universe, along with producer Peter Safran. But everyone who thought that was an affront to Iron Man’s home studio is sorely mistaken.
Already previously, James Gunn commented that the first person he told about his new job was his partner Kevin Feige. Details of that undisclosed conversation indicated that the producer congratulated the filmmaker and was even more excited at the news than DC’s most die-hard fans.
However, now the producer breaks the silence and ensures that the characters of DC could not be in better hands. Entertainment Weekly He talked to him and asked him about that supposed talk in which he congratulated the director and screenwriter. She replied the following:
“I said, ‘That’s awesome, and I can’t wait to see it,'” Feige said. “I’ve never been shy about loving those characters. I had Superman posters all over the walls in my childhood bedroom. And I went to work for the Donners, Richard Donner and Lauren Shuler Donner, for Superman. The idea of those characters being in as good hands as James’s is exciting, and will be amazing, after it’s over. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3of course”.
It was last October when it became official that James Gunn would take the helm of the DC cinematic universe. Along with Peter Safran, he has slightly rebranded the studio and inaugurated a few subdivisions that help audiences understand the many narratives that will remain alien.
Now the DCEU will have a new Superman. The tape that will bring it to life will be named Superman legacy and is currently being written by Gunn himself. However, beyond his new tasks as a project planner, the filmmaker still has to refine the details of the third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Gunn gained notoriety mainly for his performance in said space saga. But he later earned the respect of his peers and many fans when he first switched sides, crossing over to the DC playing field. His job there was to restore the franchise of the suicide squad with a new cast and a tone more devoted to comedy.
Perhaps it was then that Warner executives saw its potential in it, to resurrect an entire cinematographic universe from the ashes. But before we can witness that, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It will hit theaters next May.
