In a survey of 2,400 people carried out by the consulting firm Opinaia and Grupo Muchnik, to which this medium had access, it was also detailed that Other words that Argentines associate with bitcoin are “gain”, “internet”, “doubt” and “volatility”.

With 32% awareness and 10% actual use during 2021, cryptocurrencies were behind other savings and investment alternatives such as the US dollar (65% and 22% in knowledge and use, respectively), the Mercado Pago application (61% and 38%) and fixed terms in national currency (59% and 19%).
Taking the above into account, the emergence of terms such as “future”, “investment” and “savings” in the responses of many respondents is explained. However, there is also another set of words that stand out, and they have to do with security. These are “scam”, “doubt” and “volatility”.
Although only a low percentage of the participants showed a negative opinion about cryptocurrencies (12%), there are 62% of respondents who do not know or do not agree with the phrase “cryptocurrencies are safe and reliable”.

Similarly, 30% of the participants consider that saving in dollars is better than doing it in bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. The same percentage, 30%, leans towards crypto assets as a savings method instead of the US currency. Regarding the specific possibility of acquiring cryptocurrencies, 25% assured that they intend to buy them, while another 49% of respondents said they would, but don’t know where to buy bitcoin in Argentina. Among centennials and millennials, that is, the population under 40 years of age, the percentage of purchase intention is higher and amounts to 30%.
Ultimately, what is clear is that the media agenda, advertising and “word of mouth” increasingly include bitcoin among their topics. In this way, 58% of people claimed to have heard about the topic in the last time, although they do not know well what it is about.
