We present the points that could have an impact on the education of your child if the proposal for the Educational Reform of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is approved.
Without a doubt, the issue of Educational Reform is of interest to all parents: what does it consist of, what will it change, what benefits will it bring, will it be convenient for your child, will it improve the Mexican educational system and the service provided by both public and public schools private?
We made a precise compilation of those aspects that in such reform it is proposed to change the educational system in our country.
THE POINTS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- There is talk of co-responsibility between parents and schools in the education of children. It is proposed that the federal Executive should take into account parents in determining the plans and study programs for preschool, primary, secondary and normal education for the entire Mexican Republic.
- The aim is to carry out a selection process to occupy teaching positions in the basic and upper secondary education taught by the State, through which those teachers who demonstrate having greater knowledge and skills are chosen; the same to promote them to management or supervisory positions.
- The State’s obligation to train teachers free of charge is established through a system of constant and permanent updating. Likewise, the aim is to strengthen the system of normal schools to guarantee better prepared teachers in the country.
- There will be a mandatory and periodic evaluation of all teachers in the country, for admission, promotion, recognition and permanence in their position, but this does not mean that they will be fired. To this end, the National Center for the Revaluation of the Teaching Staff and the Continuous Improvement of Education is created (and the National Institute for the Evaluation of Education (INEE), which was in charge of applying the evaluations to teachers), is canceled.
- The possibility is formalized that in public schools, principals, teachers, parents and students organize to improve the infrastructure of their campus, purchase educational materials, solve basic operating problems and any other need that the school has.
- There is an obligation to include in the study plans the promotion of civic and human values; gender equality, civility, history, culture, school sports, respect for the environment, in order to provide a more humane education.
- The plan to introduce (up to 40 thousand) gradually and according to the available budget, full-time schools, with days of between 6 and 8 hours a day, and with the purpose of dedicating more time to academic, sports and cultural.
- The sale of junk food is prohibited in schools and it is proposed to promote micro-businesses dedicated to bringing nutritious food to children, especially in the poorest areas.
