Actor JK Simmons has spoken about how Commissioner Gordon will differ in batgirl to the version we saw in The Justice League
JK Simmons has spoken about her return to the DCEU as Commissioner James Gordon, revealing how the character of Batgirl will differ from the version we met in Justice League while also praising series star Leslie Grace.
JK Simmons first played Commissioner Gordon in the League of Justice of 2017, and his reappearance was expected in the film of batman, written, directed and starring Ben Affleck, however the departure of the actor from the project and the subsequent decision to reboot Batman with another director and another cast, seemed to mean the goodbye of Simmons to the character. Fans got to see him again in the Snyder Cut, but it wasn’t until Batgirl was announced that we learned the actor would get a second chance to play Gotham City’s famous police officer.
During a recent interview with A.frameSimmons revealed his reaction when he was asked to reprise the role of Jim Gordon. «[Realmente] It was a complete surprise that they wanted me to be that guy again.” he admits before praising his leading lady, Leslie Grace. “She brings a lot. I completely agree with In the Heights. She was really charming and captivating and charismatic about it, and she brings all of that to Batgirl as well as her incredible stunt skills.”
What can we expect from Commissioner Gordon?
batgirl will explore Gordon’s relationship with his daughter, Barbara Gordon, and if it’s anything like the comics, he’ll have something to say about her dressing up as a vigilante!
“Commissioner Gordon’s small role in Justice League was very professional and very, ‘Let’s see if we can prevent the end of the world!'”Simmons explains. “What attracted me to this movie was the point of Jim Gordon’s voice, it’s really more of a story about him as a man and as a father and not just about the guy who turns on the Bat-Signal and tries to keep the citizens of Gotham safe. , although obviously that is also part of the story. But it was an opportunity to delve into a different aspect of the character.”concluded the actor.
Batgirl is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (bad boys for life) from a screenplay by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
The movie was scheduled to hit HBO Max later this year, but with Flash being delayed until 2023, it seems likely that it will arrive on schedule
