You may have already seen the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City first trailer, the new film based on Capcom’s video game series and produced by Sony Pictures. A first look that, although it left the fans wanting more, did not get rid of criticism in terms of production, fan service and its own proposal, since fear, what is said fear, gives little. Fortunately or not, the production company has published a second version of that trailer, somewhat trimmed in content and more focused on its objective, to look like a scary movie.
This international trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is just 28 seconds shorter than the original, but the assembly is completely different. It gives the impression that the first one was edited thinking of fans of Resident Evil games, while the second was made thinking about fans of suspense and horror films in general, whether they know Capcom games or not.
This double intention is more than evident, since in the first trailer there is much more emphasis on the iconic characters and locations from the games, to the point of looking like a fanfilm. We see for example Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine before the stairs of the hall of the mansion of Resident Evil 1 o Leon S. Kennedi and Claire Redfield at the Raccoon City Police Station, during Resident Evil 2, where they first encounter the Lickers and the garage dogs. Apart from the fact that the music also plays a key role and, in the original, the tone is completely carefree, unlike in the second.
This Sony Pictures production will premiere next November 24 in theaters and will feature the main characters from the first two installments of the Residet Evil video game series: Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario), Jill Valentine (Hannah John-Kamen), Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell), Albert Wesker (Tom Hopper) , Leon S. Kennedy (Avan Jogia), Chief Irons (Donal Logue), William Birkin (Neal McDonough), Ada Wong (Lily Gao) and Lisa Trevor (Marina Mazepa).
