The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) issued an alert about a new modus operandi of fraudwhere it is offered to take or change a bank card at homewith which criminals get the plastic and steal customers’ money.
According to the agency, in the last two months around 15 complaints have been filed on this matter, which, although it is still not a representative number in the universe of complaints received by Condusef, is a more elaborate form of scam in which the Financial services customers should be alert.
Through social networks they have registered complaints about said fraud, where they say that the criminals seek to deceive bank customers so that they receive them at their home with a card, in exchange for giving them their valid plastic, thus giving them the alternative of emptying their accounts .
Óscar Rosado, president of the drivingannounced that from January to October of this year, 23 thousand 056 complaints have been filed for virtual fraudan increase of 9.5% compared to the previous year, with the calls fake phone numbers, phishing Y apocryphal sites of the banks the ones with the highest incidence.
Women have a higher incidence of fraud
On the other hand, the driving indicated that women have a higher incidence of fraud, with 51.3% of the total, given a greater increase in the use of financial products by this sector.
The head of the Condusef pointed out that at the end of 2022 a 7% reduction in complaints is estimated, being the first year in which a reduction in the claims presented by users against bad banking services is perceived.
