In this week’s episode of Market Talks, Cointelegraph welcomes Brenda Gentry, or as she’s known on Twitter, Cryptomom. Gentry has more than 15 years of traditional banking experience. He started researching and investing in cryptocurrencies in 2020 and made significant profits in 2021, after which he launched Gentry Media Productions.. She is currently on a mission to introduce more women and minorities to Web3, decentralized finance (DeFi), and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
We start with a report from the Bank for International Settlements, according to which the average retail investor has lost 50% of their investment in Bitcoin (BTC) in the last seven years. We asked Gentry what he thinks about this, given his background in finance, and also what are some of the ways crypto investors can avoid being part of this statistic.
Sports betting is all the rage right now, with non-stop ads from different companies encouraging people to get involved and sports commentators talking about it during their shows to get more people interested. We asked Gentry about his newly acquired sports betting platform, BundleBets, and why and how he became interested in the business.
If you ask 10 people what Web3 is, you will get 10 different answers. Gentry tells us what Web3 means to her and how she sees it growing and evolving as we move forward. Plot twist! You cannot use any of the buzzwords to define it.
As much as we’d like to forget about Terra and the FTX debacle, you can’t have a conversation about cryptocurrency without mentioning either of them. Gentry tells us about his experience with it and how he has weathered the storm. He also asked what his easy trading strategy is in a post-FTX world where you never know what company might go bust next.
One of the main factors contributing to the success of cryptocurrencies is retail investors. It is understandable that most of them are hesitant to enter this sector after the events of FTX and Terra. What things do they need to see or hear to re-enter the crypto sector?
We cover all of this and more, so make sure you stay tuned until the end because Cointelegraph Markets & Research will also be answering your questions and comments throughout the show, so make sure you have them ready.
