The video of Bill Gates being attacked with a pie in the face is real
The viral video in question supposedly shows us the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, receiving a pie in the face, specifically a pie around the year 1998.
According to the site Snopesdedicated to verifying and/or denying this type of videos, has addressed the case of this clip to determine its veracity and it turns out that it is 100% real:
It happens that the video in question was published on YouTube around 2020 with the title “Bill Gates – Pie in the Face (The WHO version)”. But it is not until recent days that it has become popular on social networks such as X, TikTok and Reddit.
The anecdote according to New York Timeshappened in Brussels in 1998 when Bill Gates was attacked by the writer Noël Godin and his group, who had specialized in throwing pies at famous people for political or humorous reasons.
It would all have been the idea of Godin and his accomplices who waited for Gates to pass by on the street, holding pies hidden in camera bags and under their coats. By the time Bill received the hit, a total of 22 previous people had already been subjected to the same trick.
Godin supposedly chose Gates because he considered that he used his intelligence and imagination in the service of the capitalist status quo and the best way to criticize him that he could think of would have been with a slap.
Any other person would have taken receiving this kind of attack as a serious assault. But good Bill did not press charges against the authors of the prank with overtones of protest.
Even at the time, the millionaire stated that the cake was not very tasty.
