The passage of Hurricane Grace affected more than 356 thousand users by interrupting the electricity supply in their homes.
Walmart has clarified to Merca2.0 that after the hurricane passed through Veracruz, it activated support for the entity’s community.
The social dimension that brands have is an important bet to be able to respond to eventualities that are registered in the market.
Walmart has issued its position and shared it exclusively with Merca2.0, after joining the brand in the alleged removal of electrical outlets, which had been affected by Hurricane Grace in the state of Veracruz.
The events were reported this week when a series of images were shown through social networks showing the inhabitants who suffered the onslaught of the hurricane that left them without electricity supply, charging their devices through sockets placed in Patio Poza Rica and others show how they were removed, preventing them from continuing to charge their devices, for which it was alleged that Walmart employees had been in charge of uninstalling them.
Walmart responds
After being erroneously involved in the alleged withdrawal of electrical contacts, which prevented those affected by Hurricane Grace from charging their mobile devices, Walmart has responded to the trend that circulated on social networks.
The chain has assured Merca2.0 that the information is false and contrary to the indications made, it activated support for the community through its Foundation.
“Our Walmart Patio Poza Rica store is located within a commercial plaza, therefore, it does not have the permits to generate any modification outside its operating space. The plugs you refer to are located within the common areas of the Patio Poza Rica plaza and belong entirely to this plaza.
Likewise, as part of our commitment to Veracruz families in natural disasters, through the Walmart Foundation, more than 15 tons of food have been channeled to the municipalities of Veracruz, Poza Rica and Tecolutla that have benefited more than 4 thousand affected people. by the passage of Hurricane Grace “.
The declaration of the brand in the face of the recorded events is an important antecedent of the actions of the brands in the face of eventualities that affect the market as a natural phenomenon.
Along with this action, the social dimension that brands have through their foundations is important and we have seen very interesting cases in this altruistic mission to which brands have joined.
