In 2016, in the framework of the Paris Motor Show, Volkswagen revealed a concept that at that time called ID and whose main characteristic was to be 100% electric.
Three years later, the automaker confirmed that the vehicle would cease to be a concept and that it would go into production, now under the name Volkswagen ID.3. It was in September 2019, during the Frankfurt Motor Show, that the car was officially unveiled.
Many wonder what the experience of driving the ID.3 will be like, but definitely not Elon Musk, who on a trip to Germany had the opportunity to drive it, invited by Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Group.
It is not just any event. After all, let’s remember that Tesla – the company of which Musk is CEO – can be considered the spearhead of electric vehicles.
Diess himself posted the video of Musk’s test drive, whom he accompanied aboard the ID.3.
We can hear Diess clarifying that the ID.3 is a commercial vehicle, not a racing machine. ‘Yeah, I just wanted to see what the acceleration was like, ‘ Musk replies before adding ‘For not being a sports car, it’s pretty good.‘
The test was at the Braunschweig – Wolfsburg airport and there is a moment when Musk gets on a runway and accelerates. ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’, question.
Diess shares that the vehicle has a lane-following function and emergency systems.
The full video was shared by Volkswagen Group on its Twitter account. Look:

Volkswagen ID.3 has a windshield with augmented reality, where the driver is shown specific information so that they do not take their eyes off the road. It also has driving assistance and a pedestrian detection system.
It will be available in three versions and the difference lies only in the autonomy.
