Lord Voldemort became one of the most terrifying villains in all of history and here we will tell you a few references of his life
At this point who has not seen or read something of Harry Potter. Nor do you have to be a big fan of the saga so that when you think of it, characters like Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Hagrid or Lord Voldemort come to mind. The villain of this saga is one of the most famous in history, but there are many things that made this character who he is today.
If we have read the books or seen the movies, he is a character that we are afraid of, and many times, his story is more relevant than that of Harry Potter. He has plots of love, hate, revenge and even solidarity. After all, you don’t become the world’s most feared wizard overnight.
Harry Potter’s past and how it affected
It’s not much of a spoiler to say that Harry Potter’s parents were cruelly murdered by Voldemort. Basically because it comes out in the first minutes of the film and in the first pages. This event marks what has been the entire saga and one of Harry’s main impulses. In this murder Harry lost his parents and Voldemort was about to die, having to disappear. This plot according to JK Rowling was to make sense of Harry Potter’s ignorance and his magical abilities.
The author also mentioned that she used it as an excuse. She was not at all clear about how the character was going to develop, but as the deliveries passed, she was clear that she was the main villain that she wanted. He went from being a “standard” villain to someone with a background and intentions driven by something.
Voldemort and his evil personality
During the seven Harry Potter books we can see how all the characters evolve. Some for better and others for worse. The more we read or saw the more things we knew about the dark Lord and we were able to guess a little about the path he had followed until he became what he was. He started killing long before he was Voldemort himself, that is, when he was still called Tom Riddle. I hate him for the muggles and his pursuit of a pure race of wizards turned Tom Riddle into a first-rate psychopath.
“Actually, when I created Voldemort I considered him to be a psychopath. Then I realized that Voldemort is everything that a human being can be in the limits of evil.»
He doesn’t understand what love is because he has never had it. As a child he was disowned by his father. Love really is what kills him and what defeats him. The fact that Harry gave his life for his friends and allies caused Voldemort to perish. Sacrifices for love were his downfall.
The first actor to play Voldemort
With the worldwide explosion and success of the Harry Potter book saga, Hollywood decided to make a “life action” adaptation. This decision meant that in 2001 we had in the cinema the film of Harry potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This film introduced us to the characters and plots of this saga and was an immediate success among fans and people who did not know the books.
In that film we had a peculiar professor, Professor Quirrell. This professor who used to wear a turban to cover his head turned out to be the first great ally of Voldemort that we saw on screen since he had the “honor” of carrying the dark lord with him. This ability meant that Voldemort did not perish and that he could move freely throughout the country.
The actor who played Voldemort in this movie was Richard Bremmer. This actor was modified thanks to CGI to be what he was. Obviously in the next movies we didn’t see him anymore since they changed actors when they got to the fourth movie where we can see Voldemort in all of his being.
His love with a Death Eater
Death Eaters are Voldemort’s most loyal followers. People who would do anything for their great leader. Obviously murder first. The curious thing about this is not that he has a group that follows him, but the connections that they came to make between them.
It is not surprising that after all both Voldemort and Tom Riddle had some love relationship over time. It is known that Tom Riddle was a handsome young man and that he manipulated both men and women to achieve his goals.
Among these Death Eaters we find Bellatrix Lestrange. Bellatrix is one of the most loyal Death Eaters to Lord Voldemort and she has shown it multiple times throughout the saga. She has murdered for him and has even gone to jail. The weird thing about Lestrange’s motivation isn’t that she’s obsessed with muggles, if not, the love she felt for the dark lord.
In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child it was known that at some point in their lives they had an intimate relationship from which their son emerged delphiniwhich was the one that resurfaced Voldemort with a trip to the past.
A show of affection for history
In the last Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (II) we were able to see a cinematographic milestone within the saga. Obviously the books and movies are often quite far apart and are not alike at times, giving freedom to the film versions.
In this last film there is a moment that seems to be that Voldemort is already defeated. He knows he is going to lose and in a speech that makes his followers more loyal to him, and alive to him, he hugs Draco Malfoy. Draco was the perfect prototype for Slytherin house and Voldemort’s cause. The actor who played Draco Malfoy, Tom Felton, confirmed for a magazine that it was a bit strange to record that shot and that he felt quite strange with the fact that he was hugged by Voldemort.
Voldemort’s only fear
JK Rowling was creating a practically perfect world. Literally, because when she opens her mouth she leaves a lot to be desired. She created something so round that even Voldemort had a reason for being and a clear explanation to commit her evil deeds.
Obviously Voldemort had some kind of fear, he had to fear something even if he believed himself to be invincible and the most powerful wizard. People quickly assumed that Voldemort’s greatest fear was Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts. It is true that Voldemort knows that Dumbledore is more powerful than him, but instead, when he has to face the headmaster of Hogwarts he sends Severus Snape to face him.
What the writer mentioned in an interview with The Leaky Cauldron was that Voldemort’s true fear was death. He believes that human beings are a horrible thing. The only common thing is death and he believes he is superior to the human race, therefore he showed that what scared him the most was dying and being forgotten, as happens with most human beings, also called muggles.
This led him to the creation of the horcruxes, which he created to never die and have the opportunity to be immortal since he did not think that anyone would discover his intentions with these objects.
Ralph Fiennes was not a fan of the series when he played the role of Voldemort
Most of the characters and their actors remained from the first Harry Potter film to the last, creating a hard core of plots and stories. In the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire We first saw Lord Voldemort in all his glory and the actor who played him was Ralph Fiennes.
The actor has confirmed in several interviews that when he was given the role he was not a big fan of the series. He knew her but was not a fan of the JK Rowling saga. This meant that he did not approach the work with the feeling of being a fanatic and having that responsibility or nervousness on his part.
“If Voldemort ever appears again in a story or movie, I would like to play him again.” Fiennes commented in an interview to the BBC. “In the end I have grown fond of him.”
These have been some of the details of one of the worst villains in the history of literature. Have we left something? Put in the comments if you want us to do this with other characters from modern cinema or literature.
