A few hours after a report began to circulate where it was made sure that Victoria Alonso was fired by Disney after committing a mistake in her employment contract with Marvel Studios, it is her legal representative who has come out to categorically deny this version.
In a statement to Varietythe lawyer Patty Glaser, who represents Alonso in his departure from Disney, affirms that the producer had the “blessing” of the studio to work on Argentina, 1985. The foregoing, after sources will ensure that the House of Mickey Mouse decided to end her professional relationship with Alonso because she was prohibited from working on projects for any rival studio. Santiago Miter’s award-winning film was produced by Amazon Studios.
“The idea that Victoria was fired for a handful of press interviews related to a personal passion project about human rights and democracy that was nominated for an Oscar and got Disney’s blessing to work on is absolutely ridiculous.” Glaser says. “Victoria, a gay Latina who had the courage to criticize Disney, was silenced. She later got fired when she refused to do something she thought was wrong. Disney and Marvel made a really bad decision that will have serious consequences. There is much more to this story and Victoria will tell it shortly, in one forum or another.”
