Max Verstappen achieved his sixth victory of the season after winning the Canadian GP against a Carlos Sainz who fought to the end. The man from Madrid saved the spare furniture for Ferrari, which still had a great charles leclerc 5th after a great comeback.
With Lewis Hamilton completing the podium in Montreal, the big loser of the race was Fernando Alonso. Alpine made an embarrassing strategic decision that cost the Asturian not only the podium but the ‘top 5’.
Quiet exit, Verstappen escapes
Alonso was unable to keep his promise to attack Verstappen at the start, and the Dutchman escaped without much difficulty in the first few meters while the Asturian tried to hold on to a Sainz who made an attempted attack.
