Take this note as a warning to our readers in the southern cone who are in the middle of winter in those latitudes: next summer seems to be very intense and the high temperatures can annoy your iphone permanently.
In the extreme north of the American continent, we are going through a genuinely intense summer, where in areas that were traditionally temperate and relatively warm, temperatures close to 40º C are experienced.
Due to this situation, many users have had to discover in the least friendly way possible that these heat ranges are a serious danger for our smart devices, particularly if they are exposed to direct sunlight.
So we have decided to put together this short guide with a series of tips and recommendations of what should not be done to ensure that our phone survives the extreme climates of modern times.
What you should not do so that your iPhone does not end up melting in this extreme heat
Perhaps many do not take it into consideration, but Apple has a specific section on its technical support website to talk about the optimal temperature conditions in which an iPhone should ideally be used.
These guidelines themselves apply to virtually any Smartphone. Unless it is an Android terminal designed specifically for extreme conditions.
But the site itself notes that the phone should only be used “where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35ºC (32º to 95ºF)”, since using it outside this range may cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Applying some preventive actions such as:
- Reduce charging times or stop them altogether
- Decrease signal strength by setting the telecommunications antenna to its lowest power.
- Reduce screen brightness to maximum.
- Restrict the operation of apps with a high load of graphic processing.
- Temporarily disable camera flash.
This can be annoying, but it should be considered as an alarm signal, since it means that the Smartphone is in a phase of extreme internal heat in its components. This can permanently shorten battery life and damage the device.
Fortunately, there are some useful tips that we must follow immediately if our device activates any of the preventive functions listed above:
- Apple offers some tips to help keep your iPhone cool in high temperatures:
- Don’t leave your iPhone or iPad in a car on a hot day
- Do not leave your iPhone or iPad in direct sunlight for an extended period of time
- Do not use features such as GPS, Appler CarPlay, video games or streaming apps.
- Do not use cases or covers while the iPhone is overheated.
By following these tips we can save our device and extend its useful life.
