The Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro has been trending on social media for weeks due to the latest mishaps at stations and trains; This has led the digital conversation to spotlight the main managers of the operation, from the agency’s director to the capital’s Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, who are reminded of the implications of what happened on Line 12, Line 3 , Line 2 and now Line 5.
The STC Subway has been in the focus of attention of the federal government, the population, officials and the Opposition since the May 3, 2021when a section of the “Gold Line” collapsed at the Olivos station and left 27 dead.
Since then, the Government of Mexico City has been pointed out, criticized and ironized in each affectation, delay or accident that occurs during the journeys.
Among the less tragic “memorable mishaps” during the Sheinbaum administration was the fire at the January 9, 2021 at Control Center 1, which affected a substation of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the operation of lines 1 to 6; the train crash on Line 3, between the Potrero and La Raza stations, on January 7, 2023, where 10 injured people were reported, four victims were pressed and one person died; and on January 10, 2023, and the January 10, 2023with the report of several passengers due to the fire of one of the trains on the same line.
Now Line 5!: users react to fire at Polytechnic
Twitter users reported a new accident on Metro Line 5, where smoke surprised passengers who were at the Politécnico station.
Although it is now known that the events derived from a flat tire, the simple viralization of the videos revived a latent trend in reference to the transportation system and the CDMX Government.
#MetroNotice: Service is normalized on Line 5, after withdrawing a train for inspection due to a flat tire. No fire was recorded in the incident and the chemical powder was applied per protocol.

Yes, the Metro Collective Transport System withdrew the affected train and assured that, although the Polytechnic terminal was filled with smoke, the chemical powder was applied per security protocol.
However, the images circulating on social networks show a different reality: sparks, smoke and crowds.
And now a little spark on line 5 of the CDMX Metro today. Sheinbaum had already predicted it a few days ago !!! pic.twitter.com/pgsR7i7tPw

And it is that, after the accident registered on Line 3, the director of the Metro, Guillermo Calderón, removed the deputy director of Operations of the STC, Alberto García, and appointed Francisco Echavarri Hernández as a substitute… but this viralization has already stained his first week in The charge.
