The senator republican Ted Cruz has recently commented that he wants to protect children from pay to win games, and has indicated that he is willing to meet with Asmongold, who is openly opposed to this practice.
Apparently, the streamer contacted Cruz last week to discuss the possibility of banning these paid games. The politician had already agreed with Asmongold on this matter during an episode of his YouTube show, Verdict.
When a viewer asked Cruz about pay games, the politician responded by saying that “I am delighted to strike up a conversation. I am delighted to see what he has to say about it. As I understand it, the concern you raise is a concern about gambling and children.“.
The politician explained that some games are designed to be addictive, noting his opposition to microtransactions. “With some of the loot boxes, there is a good amount of randomness where you can get a lot of great stuff or some lousy stuff. I guess that’s the argument that it’s a game“said the politician.
“I am open to hearing arguments on this. I would like not to see children exploited and harmed, so I would be interested in hearing your opinion“. On the other hand, Cruz said that the federal government does not have “dog in the fight“.
“I dont believe itAsmongold replied while streaming the episode.I thought it was going to be silly. So actually he agrees with me 100%These comments were later echoed by Tips Out, a colleague of Asmongold’s at OTK Media.
“Cruz agreed to talk to Asmongold about loot boxes and pay to win“, the streamer pointed out. “If positive legislation really comes out of this I will eat a shoe. My shoe“.
Cruz has stated his opposition to gun control. Shortly after the events in Uvalde, Texas, which left the world in shock, the politician claimed that school shootings were the result of absent parents, declining church attendance and, of course, video game.
“Tragedies like the events of this week are a mirror that forces us to ask hard questions, demanding that we see where our culture is failing, looking at broken families, absent parents, declining church attendance, bullying in social networks, to violent content online, to the desensitization of the act of murder in video games, to chronic isolation“.
