On Wednesday, November 8, the final of League 1, which took place at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, saw Universitario de Deportes win with a score of 2-0 over its blue and white rival, which meant obtaining the Peruvian championship after one of each. A prominent protagonist in this conquest was Rodrigo Ureña, player of the merengue team, who expressed his gratitude to the cream institution and announced his renewal by pointing out that he will stay for the Centennial and “three more years”.
The Universitario midfielder expressed his happiness for winning the championship and briefly shared his experience about the way he has been treated at the merengue store: “I have no words, I arrived here, they received me with a lot of love and affection, I am very grateful con the ‘OR‘”.
“It’s not easy to come here and do what we did. We have a great group and we always wanted to do the best in both the national and international tournaments. (…) I am very happy and I am very happy to have one more title in my career”he added.
Finally, when they asked him about his future in the team, the player responded with determination that he will continue to be part of the cream team for the next few years, thus confirming his renewal: “Yes, of course, I will stay here for the centenary and three more years. I’m very happy”.
Lima Alliance vs. University: what’s coming
After an extensive regular phase in Liga 1 Betsson 2023, and with two teams competing in the final for the national championship, their move to the Copa Libertadores 2024 has also been determined. Now, after the final, it was resolved that Universitario will represent as Peru 1 and Alianza Lima as Peru 2.
