YouTube TV is expanding its programming in Spanish by combining its live television content with the Univisión, UniMás and Galavisión networks.
Starting today, as confirmed by Univision Communications, these three Spanish-language television networks will be part of YouTube TV and at no additional cost to subscribers. But what does this new alliance mean?
Every day that passes, digital content platforms such as YouTube, Twitch and others, are gaining more ground among consumers, which is why it is not strange that different television networks join this type of sites to reach a greater audience number.
A few days ago, for example, the arrival of TV Azteca to Amazon, one of the most popular streaming service platforms today, was announced.
In other words, the content offered by TV Azteca in its programming will be available as we know it on Jeff Bezos’ platform, which, for the Ajusco television station, is a great strategy in order to reach a new audience that , in general, does not consume the traditional content of television.
The end of traditional television?
For some, the end of television as we knew it is near. And it is that the great offer of streaming services such as Amazon, Netflix, HBO, Disney +, and many others that are coming to the market, continue to collect subscribers as time passes.
And it is within this framework that this new alliance arrives that will see the contents of Univisión, UniMás and Galavisión to one of the most popular digital platforms, YouTube TV, in order to take advantage of the great reach in terms of audiences that the application of Google.
“Given the popularity of streaming services, as well as the growing influence of the Hispanic community, this is an important step in ensuring that our audience has access to prominent Spanish-language news, sports and entertainment wherever they consume content. We are excited about today’s launch and recognize YouTube TV’s continued commitment to serving our growing and influential Hispanic audience, ”said Hamed Nasseri, Vice President, Content Distribution, Univision.
Among the contents that these three channels will offer on YouTube TV are the coverage of the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards, which will take place on November 18, and the Champions Cup, which will be broadcast on November 29. September.
A great alliance for YouTube
Without a doubt, taking into account that in the United States there are around 62 million Spanish-speaking inhabitants (according to the 2020 Census), this is a great opportunity for YouTube to conquer a new market.
Even, in addition to adding Univisión, UniMás and Galavisión, YouTube TV will offer other content in Spanish from Sony Cine, CNN Español, Discovery en Español, Estrella TV, Cinelatino and Fox Deportes, among others, which, depending on the platform, will be available in the coming months.
Because this was not enough, YouTube also announced the launch of a new platform called Pantaya, which will include movies in Spanish in its content and will cost $ 6 per month.
Although it is a great opportunity for YouTube, it should be noted that its YouTube TV service has a cost of 65 dollars a month, about 1,300 Mexican pesos, and has 85 television channels in its bar.
