The fantasies that can be created thanks to the power of current graphics engines is simply spectacular. Unreal Engine 5 has completely fooled us with the recreation of a very real train station, while Unity has shown its capabilities with a hyper-realistic video.
Now, thanks to the work of virtual artist Harry Alisavakis, we have been able to see an image that plants us in front of an anime, but we are very wrong. Actually it is a small project created in Unity thanks to the brutal talent of Harry.
🍜~Ramen time~ 🍜
The latest #TechnicallyACchallenge theme is “Food” so I tried making some of these delicious-looking anime ramen ✨
It made me quite hungry making it, so I guess I did something right đź‘€#unity3d #madewithunity #screenshotsaturday pic.twitter.com/FVoORW4XPQ

The last topic of #TechnicallyACchallenge it’s the “food”, so I tried to make some of those delicious anime ramen. I got really hungry doing it, so I guess I did something right.
A little look at the unnecessarily complex and very custom soup shading I did for this.
That’s right, the trick is uncovered as soon as the soup broth is separated from the rest of the ingredients and we can see that we are facing a magical representation. A job that Harry it has taken about 5 to 6 hours throughout one night, creating all the models from scratch.
All in all, the biggest work has been directed at getting the lights and shadows to fit perfectly for their target. In fact, at this last point he has not resorted to Unity’s default shadows and has lowered the frame rate to give the image a hand-drawn feel.
If you are interested in more about the work done by Alisavakis, you can consult his personal blog. Meanwhile, several companies have already announced the jump to Unreal Engine 5as is the case with CD Projekt RED, The Coalition or Crystal Dynamics.
