Vans has always stood out in the world of street wear. Style and versatility are undoubtedly two fundamental pillars in his designs. They are shoes that stand out for their comfort, but above all, for the technologies they apply to make “walking with them” as comfortable as possible.
On this occasion, we tested the Vans Ultrarange Neo VR3, a model that, beyond its comfort and style, also has a sustainable background.
The Ultrarange Neo VR3 in depth
This shoe is made with regenerative leather, sourced from farms that apply regenerative land management aimed at promoting biodiversity, improving water cycles, improving soil health and sequestering carbon, and 100% recycled PET textiles. Vans leather products support responsible manufacturing through the Leather Working Group.
Its sole is also eco-friendly: The new VR3Cush™ midsole is made using at least 50% bio-based EVA foam partially derived from plant sources according to ASTM D6866-1 testing standard
All rubber used to make this VR3Waffle™ sole (60% of the compound) is regeneratively grown natural rubber sourced from farms using agricultural practices intended to promote biodiversity, improve water cycles, improve soil health and/or sequester carbon.
This natural rubber compound was developed and designed to maintain the grip and durability Vans is known for (Since 66).
Usage experience
The sole materials, beyond sustainability, provide formidable grip. When walking, the soles also provide comfortable support, even when force is required on the feet (whether running or exercising strength).
The design fits very well when walking, and provides soft and resistant support to the foot, ideal for long walks without pain or discomfort.
Certified ecological commitment
These sustainable products feature what is called the “VR3 Checkerboard globe logo.” To obtain it, at least 30% of the product must be composed of one or more recycled, renewable or regenerative materials. And this model delivers.
Sustainable commitment in the manufacturing of sneakers is a growing trend, in which Vans has been able to join in the right way.
