UltraRAM is a memory in development that seeks to combine internal storage and RAM. Know all the details in this note!
RAM and internal storage are becoming more than important as video games with higher requirements or more demanding applications are released. Because of this, many hardware developers and scientists are looking for an alternative to improve the products. In this way, they seem to be developing a UltraRAM memory, this component would combine storage and RAM into one.
Through an article published by the Wiley Online Library, six scientists from the University of Lancaster in United Kingdom, explain the future of memory and storage. UltraRAM memory is non-volatile memory that achieves ultra-low-energy and fast electron storage.
This will be a very important leap in the development of memories, since until now RAM can not be combined with storage. We have the example of Resistive RAM and resistive magnetas well as the phase shift memory, which could never fix this problem. On the other hand, we cannot take into account the Optane memory from Intel, which did not meet the expectation.
The first look at this report is, to say the least, promising. The UltraRAM offers data storage times of at least 1000 years, in addition to having switching power. According to the report, this is “a fast, non-volatile memory, featuring high resistance and low power logic state switching”. This means that a perfect balance is created for the best performance of the UltraRAM in all fields.
At the moment it is only a prototype and there are no more exact details on a launch date or estimated price. However, its developers indicated that they are working on improving the manufacturing and creation process of the UltraRAM.
