Two months ago, Ubisoft announced that a Splinter Cell remake was Developing. Since then, since December 19 when it was announced, we haven’t heard a word about the game, until today. During a recent earnings presentation, Ubisoft mentioned the project but only to reiterate that the project is being run by Ubisoft Toronto, a studio with a résumé that includes Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Far Cry 5, Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs Legion. and Starlink: Battle for Atlas.
In addition to this, Ubisoft noted that the Splinter Cell remake will harness the power of the Snowdrop enginein which some of the publisher’s games are being developed: Tom Clancy’s The Division, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, Starlink: Battle for Atlas and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.

We still don’t know how the Splinter Cell remake will take advantage of the Snowdrop engine power. We also don’t know when the game will be revealed, what platforms it’s in development for, or when it will be released. We do not know anything. We know that it is in development at Ubisoft Toronto and that it uses the Snowdrop engine. That’s all we know. In its reveal, Ubisoft confirmed that the game will be rebuilt from scratch using the same engine that is being used to develop Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

What is sought with this is that the remake of Splinter Cell can offer some visual effects and next-gen gameplay, as well as the dynamic lighting and shadows the series is known for.
