The stories we find on social networks surprise more than one every time. This is the case of a woman who identifies herself as Tia Zakher who says that she earned more money delivering orders as an Uber Eats driver at night, but she was forced to disguise herself as a man to guarantee her safety.
With the advent of the Internet, various platforms have emerged, such as delivery, which have become a tool widely used by people around the world.
According to data from the Global Consumer Survey, in Mexico, it registers that 68 percent of the participants who had used ordering applications and online food delivery in the previous 12 months had used the Uber Eats platform. The American company is positioned first in the ranking, followed by DiDi Food, used by 60 percent of those surveyed.
Likewise, according to the Digital Market Outlook, in 2022, South America’s revenue from online food ordering and delivery exceeded US$4.31 billion. For its part, Mexico recorded a turnover of 1.91 billion dollars.
The history
The case that has gone viral on social networks, especially in a clip of TikToka 20-year-old girl showed off her masculine costume to work at night as an Uber Eats delivery person.
In the video, which has more than 270,000 views, the 20-year-old showed off her masquerade masquerade, explaining that despite earning “more money at night,” she was terrified of leaving deliveries.
The recording, which is captioned “male privilege,” showed the former part-time delivery driver wearing baggy pants, an oversized jacket, a gray hoodie, a flat-brimmed baseball cap, and last but not least, a surgical mask.
“I feel insecure delivering late-night orders, appearing as a woman because of the chances of harassment or undue attention from men on the street,” she told local media.
The young woman, who lives in Canada but is originally from Egypt, said she came up with the idea of dressing as a man because she felt more confident doing so and was less likely to be bothered by someone.

These comments coincide with an increase in violent incidents involving delivery and rideshare drivers in New York City.
The woman’s statement went viral, leaving comments where people advised her to wear “baggy pants” and add a bit of men’s cologne to appear more convincing, while others bemoaned the reality of being a woman alone at night.
“It’s so sad that we have to go through this as women,” one user wrote on the recording.
“That’s so clever lol,” said another in a comment.
“Me walking to get groceries at night,” someone else joked.
“This is so smart. I will start doing this when I travel on public transport at night,” another person commented.
This video shows the reality of many women on issues of harassment against them, which is why they decide to document it and share it with others.
